The project is currently in planning stages. This new transit center would be built on the current site in conjunction with a proposed high-density development on the same block and adjacent site across Fourth Street.

In 2021, the City of Charlotte received a $15 million federal grant to be used toward the redevelopment of the Charlotte Transportation Center (CTC) on East Trade Street. CCCP is partnering with the public and private sectors to deliver on the vision for this project, identified in the 20 Center City Vision Plans.

The City of Charlotte and the North Carolina Department of Transportation have begun work on Charlotte Gateway Station, a multi-modal transportation hub in the heart of the region servicing:Ĭonstruction on the first phase of the project, which includes track, signals, bridges, and platforms, should be complete in 2023. Charlotte is committed to making significant investments in a Transformational Mobility Network that is estimated to cost $13.5 billion over 18 years.Scooter and electric-assist bike share options make it fun to travel through South End, Uptown, and Midtown, especially with new protected bike lanes, the Rail Trail, and greenways.Center City is at the nexus of the region’s road and transit network.Charlotte Douglas International Airport is located only five miles from Uptown.Charlotte’s dedication to mobility and connectivity is visible throughout Center City.
